for the first time in a very long time, i am thirsty for a stiff drink
it's the only thing that truly relaxes me. that and a good cry during a good movie.
i dont consider myself an imbiber. I'll take a sip or two glasses or even an entire bottle if I'm in exceptionally good company, and then I wont think about the stuff for months
but today - i wish someone would pour me a stiff drink.
i saw my ex today. he's doing so well - new suit, new car, new girl... the works... and I havent even raised 1/3 of my rent due 2moro yet.
life sucks sometimes.
how about that drink?

Unexpected friends
There are those unexpected high moments that will stay with one forever. Sometimes you just have to stand still and let the good stuff pour in.........
When the dark closes in hard
And the walls of my fortress of faith
Crumble in on me
When it seems like the end
Not a measure of strength to spend
I see the hand of a stranger stretched out
Toward me
With some unexpected friends
Never asking where I have been
Just a hand of mercy and words of kindness
Call me back again
Oh, it feels like home
With unexpected friends
A soothing balm for the lows
I walk through along the way
A shared prayer giving courage
And hope for another day
Through the help of my friends
Ones I may never see again
Seems like angels that were
sent by heaven for me
With some unexpected friends
Never asking where I have been
Just a hand of mercy and words of kindness
call me back again
Oh, it feels like home
With unexpected friends

19 years - gone

Overlooked blessings
Pampering yourself.
Listening to the whispers of your authentic self and taking your own advice.
The generosity and hospitality of good neighbors.
Finding a lost pet.
Rediscovering old family photos.
The intimate bond of friendship that protects, nurtures, inspires and comforts.
The man or woman in your life who is neither a past or present love but simply a precious friend who adores you.
Waking up to a perfectly beautiful day for a planned outdoor event.
The haven of a comforting shoulder to cry on; the warming embrace of a loved one.
Working with people you enjoy being around.
An opportunity to interview for the dream job. Getting it.
Receiving the perfect gift. Finding one for someone else.
Catching a glimpse of yourself in the mirror and delighting in what you see.
An unexpected compliment that makes your day.
Completing the crossword puzzle without help.
Listening to the oldies and recalling happy moments.
Paying off your credit card balance.
Coming up with the perfect retort at the moment you need it and not two hours later.
Friends and family who can both truly rejoice with you and console you in times of sorrow.
